The Russian billiard culture has always been dominated by Russian Piramid, but a shift towards Pool is gradually taking place. As the young guns practice their shot-making religiously, the two Dutch trainers decided to focus the attention on knowledge: kicks, banks and safeties as well as elements of the mental game. Every morning the group of 26 persons marveled onlookers as they collectively performed a blissfully silent session of Chi Kung in the park. Thereafter it was 7 hours of theory and practice only interrupted by a post-lunch break in the forest where in the shadow of the high trees a very laid-back game of soccer was played.
The European Junior Championships take place from the 29th of July until the 7th of August. Results and livestream can be found on www.epconline.eu. Here the Russian players can be seen battling it out. Other powerhouses in the championship are the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
